Myspace apparently is making changes! New interface skins… new API’s for developers. My imediate response to hearing this was ‘I dont give a flying fuck!’

You want to know what might make using myspace more enjoyable? Maybe if every other day I didn’t have my email inbox half full of fake user profiles named ‘candy’, ‘bambi’, ‘hotTamalile47′, and ‘looking for love’ spamming me to check out their nude pics. You know what… Im already on the god damn internet. If I want to look at nude pics, here is a better way than surfing myspace – PORN! It already comprises more than 3/4ths of the internet, do I really need LoveToSuck31′s help to find these naughty pics? Do I really want to install malware on my comp to view a few boob shots I could have easily found on google image search?

Social networking was really cool when it was new… now, there are 40 bagillion different pages wanting you to post your pics. The key to success here is specialization. Flicker is used for pics cause it does pictures very well… and THATS IT! If one site tries to take on too many hats, it just fails. I stopped using facebook when user apps sent me twenty thousand invites a day to be a damn pirate, robot, vampire, or have my ‘Heroes Power’. There is only so much bullshit I can tolerate. Facebook is solely used for stalking people… to get on and see what your friends or that chick you dig is doing without actually talking to them. Why the fuck would I use facebook instant messanger when AIM has been around for years? When gMail integrates so elegantly a messanger thats unobtrusive?

Social networking is out of control… I think it’s the Web 2.0 fad that just wont die. I think it’s evolving, and will continue to evolve, into more and more useful and integrated services that will usher in a new era for the web… these are called YouTube, Flicker, Twitter, etc etc. They will be integrated into your phones, desktops, laptops, Ultra-Mobile Systems, TVs, and toasters. And guess what… my money says that Facebook, MySpace, and any other social network that fails to evolve in more ways than user interface and vampire applications will fall to the wayside.
